On Saturday, September 26, 2015, Asa and Marilyn Logan celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary with a reception and meal at The Club at Colony Creek, hosted by their children and their spouses, daughters, Kay and (David) Yaws of Victoria, Karen and (Terry) Fleeman of Bloomington; and sons, Scott Logan (Brigitte) of LaSalle and Bryan (Shannon) Logan of New Braunfels. Their 10 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren (with two great-grandchildren currently expected) were also present for the celebration, presenting the prayer for the meal and quoting a Bible verse.Asa Logan married Marilyn Meyer on September 30, 1955 at South Bluff Methodist Church in Corpus Christi, with Rev. Lowell O. Ryan performing the ceremony. For their honeymoon they traveled to Carlsbad Caverns, New Mexico. This was Mrs. Logan's first trip out of the state of Texas.The couple met in 1952 on the tennis court at W.B. Ray High School in Corpus Christi, and enjoyed their first date with hamburgers at Whataburger, the first Whataburger stand in Corpus Christi.Asa retired from Central Power & Light Company during his 40th year of employment. The family moved from Corpus Christi to San Benito and then to Laredo. They moved to Victoria in 1967 and retirement has been spent in his enjoyment of growing pecan trees and riding his UTV over the couples' Twenty Oaks Farm in Crescent Valley.Marilyn retired from ALCOA Point Comfort. She enjoys genealogy and traveling with the Texas Tracers to Salt Lake City, Utah, for family research. She also enjoys reading, sewing, crafts, and the company of her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is a member of many patriotic clubs, following in her mother's footsteps.The Logans are members of the John Wesley United Methodist Church.
