Floyd and Evelyn Nicholson, of Victoria, celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary on Saturday, September 12, 2015 with a family dinner party held at the home of the couple and hosted by their family.Floyd Nicholson married Evelyn Friedrichs on September 12, 1950 at First English Lutheran Church in Victoria. The ceremony was officiated by Rev. J.C. Felger.The couple have two sons, Gordon (Jo Ann) Nicholson of Victoria and Chris Nicholson of Galveston; four daughters, Cathy (Ken) Otto of Houston, Deb (Bill) Stutsman of Houston, Cheryl (Mark) Radney of Seabrook, and Michelle (Paul) Meharg of Cedar Park; grandchildren, Libbie (George) Kramer of Buda, Casey (Staci) Nicholson of Victoria, Jason and Eric Otto of Houston, Rachel and Hannah Meharg of Cedar Park, Adam Stutsman of Houston, and David and Matthew Radney of Seabrook; and great-grandchildren, Dylan and Conner Nicholson of Victoria, and Lorelei and Marshall Kramer of Buda.Floyd graduated from Goliad High School in 1944 and served 3 years in the U.S. Navy. He attended Victoria College and North Texas University (Denton) and Texas State University in 1958. He retired from VISD in 1979. He played trumpet with several local music groups- including dance bands, Victoria Symphony, Community Band, Big Band, and Church music group.Evelyn graduated from Patti Welder High School and Victoria College. She is a full-time mom and homemaker and enjoys genealogy and growing flowers. Together with her husband, they are long-time members of Our Saviour's Lutheran Church in Victoria.
