The U.S. Coast Guard rescued two mariners who became disoriented offshore Port O’Connor on Thursday evening, officials said Friday.
About 5:40 p.m., watchstanders were contacted by a 72-year-old man and 59-year-old woman aboard a 17-foot recreational vessel, according to a Coast Guard news release.
After their navigation equipment failed, the two became disoriented.
Coast Guard officials launched a 45-foot rescue boat, which escorted the recreational vessel to a nearby vessel to moor overnight.
The two mariners were transferred to Coast Guard Station Port O’Connor.
Weather at the time was reported as 3- to 5-foot seas and 13 mph winds.
