Celebrating its 21st year, the Healthy Aging Conference is the only regional conference devoted exclusively to education and health screening for senior adults and caregivers.

The conference is co-hosted by Citizens Medical Center, Post Acute Medical and Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Services. The conference will be 8 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Thursday at the Victoria Community Center.

The event features educational sessions and a large health fair. Also included is a light breakfast, healthy box lunch, free health screening tests, and door prizes.

“The annual Healthy Aging Conference is a completely free event that provides all of the information our local senior adults need to help them live well. With over 600 in attendance each year, we look forward to bringing together all of the information and resources our seniors need to live a healthy lifestyle. Attendees look forward to the presentations each year,” said Jennifer McDaniel with Citizens Medical Center.

Speakers are Dr. Tywaun Tillman, interventional cardiologist, Dr. Samuel Copeland, pulmonologist, and Jean Gisler, nurse practitioner.

The community center will be full of exhibitors, free giveaways, drawings for gifts and medical professionals providing free screening such as blood pressure checks, cholesterol, blood sugar and bone density assessments. There is no need to fast for any of the screening tests offered at the conference, McDaniel said.
