No injuries were reported after a major wreck on U.S. 59 between Edna and Ganado involving a charter bus and a truck pulling a camper, law enforcement said Sunday.

Department of Public Safety troopers and Jackson County Emergency Services responded to the wreck about 1 p.m. on U.S. 59 near Shady Oaks RV Park and Campground, said Sgt. Ruben San Miguel, DPS spokesman.

Michael Hershberger, 78, of Indiana, was headed south on U.S. 59 in a Ford F-250 pulling a Montana Fifth Wheel Travel Trailer when he changed lanes and attempted to turn in front of a Volvo charter bus. The bus driver, Gabriel Garcia, 53, of Houston, wasn’t able to take action to avoid ramming into the left side of the travel trailer.

“The truck and trailer came to rest in the center median, and the bus was able to stop on the roadway with all the (20) passengers able to get safely off,” San Miguel said.
