The Matagorda County Sheriff's Office is accepting applications for enrollment into Class 14 of the Citizens Law Enforcement Academy.

This academy is a 10-week program for residents of Matagorda County. It is a total of 40 hours.

Classes are from 7-9 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday nights. This class does not certify students to be police officers but educates the community on the different divisions and workings of the sheriff's department.

Applications may be picked up at the sheriff's office, 2308 Ave. F, Bay City. All applications will be reviewed, and a background check and criminal history check will be performed on each applicant before acceptance into the academy. The class is limited to 35, and participants will be chosen on a first-come basis pending background checks. Class is set to begin March 25.
