Ten COVID-19 cases were reported Sunday by the Texas Department of Health and Human Services in the nine-county region around Victoria County.
The state reported six new cases in Matagorda County, two in Refugio County and two in Wharton County. The state also reported 13 new recoveries in the region, including six in Matagorda County, five in Refugio County and two in Wharton County. No deaths related to COVID-19 were reported Sunday.
On Saturday, 45 COVID-19 patients occupied 7.44% of 605 staffed hospital beds in Victoria’s trauma service area, which includes Victoria, Calhoun, DeWitt, Goliad, Jackson and Lavaca counties, according to the state health department.
Area hospitals reported 243 empty hospital beds and 18 empty beds in intensive care units, according to state data.
