The Texas Zoo has endured floods, change in leadership and financial troubles, but through it all it continues to survive and re-invent itself.

For a number of years, the zoo maintained a profile of animals indigenous to South Texas and provided a local stage for zoo enthusiast.

Recently, the Texas Zoo has transformed its image from showcasing just local species, to animals from South America to the African continent.

If it has been a while since you visited the iconic Texas Zoo, do yourself a great favor and revisit the tree shrouded grounds in Riverside Park, where you can see everything from exotic birds to spider monkeys and the big cats.

Old Bosley the bear would have been excited to share the zoo grounds with zebras and Bengal tigers, bringing new excitement to a fascinating place.
