YOAKUM - After four successful seasons a pair of Lady Bulldogs will now turn their attention to helping turn around perils of another Bulldog team.

Yoakum sisters Megan and Sarah Carmichael made their commitments to the Texas Lutheran softball program on Friday.

"Both of our parents went there, the coach is really great and I have a lot of friends that will be going their," Megan said following the signing of her paperwork to attend the school in the fall.

Megan was Yoakum's ace in the circle this season compiling a 16-6 record with an 0.83 ERA. She tossed 135 2/3 innings with 210 strikeouts and 28 walks. She also hit .348 and drove in 16 runs.

Sarah was the team's catcher and also played shortstop as she compiled a .394 average and drove in a team-high 30 runs.

"We went to softball camps there and when we talked to the coach she was great and the girls were very friendly and they play to have fun and that's what I liked," Sarah said.

The duo shared District 28-3A co-MVP honors in leading the Lady Bulldogs to the district crown.

During her four seasons in Yoakum, Megan was the district MVP the past three seasons and was second team all-district as a freshman.

Sarah was the district's newcomer of the year in 2007 and an all-district first-teamer last year.

The duo hopes to help TLU turn its program around next year.

Texas Lutheran, a Division III school that competes in the American Southwest Conference, finished the season 12-26 and 7-17 in the ASC. TLU reached the ASC Championships in 2004 and 2005 and coach Missy Steiger just completed her ninth season as head coach.
