GOLIAD - Three Goliad County law enforcement officers have developed a scholarship fund to help students get an education.

Sheriff Kirby Brumby, Constable Precinct 1 Mike Thompson and Constable Precinct 2 Michael De La Garza put up their own money for a $500 scholarship for graduating Goliad High School seniors wishing to pursue a career in law enforcement.

"I look at it as making an investment," said Thompson, who was part of a similar program in Aransas County.

"We want to encourage kids to be able to get an education," Brumby said.

Students interested in law enforcement can pick up an application at the Goliad High School counselor's office.
