Wharton man dies in auto-pedestrian accident

EAST BERNARD - A 73-year-old Wharton man was killed Thursday evening in auto-pedestrian incident in Wharton County, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.

The deceased person was identified as Eugene Moore of Wharton.

Trooper Glen Taft of the DPS Pierce office reported that the incident occurred about 8:37 p.m. Thursday on state Highway 60 just south of Wharton-Austin county line.

Taft reported that Marshall Locke of Hungerford was driving south in a 2007 Ford Freestar on Highway 60, and Moore was walking in the southbound lane at the time.

Justice of the Peace Cindy Kubicek pronounced Moore dead on the scene at 9:35 p.m.
