Q: I'm thinking about going back to school at UHV, but, to be honest, I'm not really sure what I want to be when I "grow up." Is there someone on the campus who can help me?
A: The University of Houston-Victoria Career Services department offers career counseling for students, prospective students and alumni, along with a host of other services.
Eunice Mesa, career services coordinator, can help you with testing to find a field that appeals to your interests and abilities, and advise you on what additional education you'll need to enter such a career.
The office also provides students and alumni with resume and cover letter review services, and interview workshops customized for specific job fields.
Students and alumni also can access the UHV job board to find postings for positions available on and off campus.
In addition, Career Services can help employers find good help from UHV's pool of students and graduates. Bethany Bowman, career services specialist, can help employers post job listings on the UHV job board for free. She also can help organize on-campus job fairs and informational sessions so employers can sell themselves as strong potential applicants. She even can help employers design student internships.
Bowman also regularly meets with business owners and operators to ensure the education students receive at UHV will enable them to find jobs with employers in the region and beyond.
