Thumbs-up to Victoria's new schools. If you haven't driven by them, you should. Even from the exterior, these buildings are impressive. They are awesome.

Fred, Victoria

Thumbs-up to Industrial ISD for making sure our band students and athletes are well taken care of in this heat.

God bless you all for your time and dedication in ensuring the health and well being of our kids.

Mr. Tony Williams: You run a tight ship, and we are so proud to have you as our leader (superintendent).

Bellanger family, Inez

Thumbs down on the carnage happening on our highways. Too many drivers seem hell-bent on getting from here to there in seconds instead of minutes, often taking the lives of innocents.

Joseph, Palacios

Thumbs-down to Howell Intermediate School for their bad attitudes toward students and parents entering their school to register for the new school year - sure hope it will improve before school starts!

Liz, Cuero

Thumbs-up to Caterpillar Inc. for choosing Victoria as the location to build its hydraulic excavator plant. More than 500 jobs will be created for the manufacturing plant.

Thumbs-up to Michelle Fuller - a Victoria native - who did not give up after a near-fatal accident that took her husband. Fuller, 36, finished her associate's degree in psychology and minor in social work in Jacksonville, N.C.

Thumbs-up to the selection of this year's Ruby Begonia, who will compete in the annual Turkeyfest.

Thumbs-up to Victoria native Kristin Rojas, who is studying medicine in Colombia

Thumbs-up to former Cowboy cheerleader Teri Richardson, of Bay City, who maintains a positive attitude in her fight against colon cancer.

Thumbs-up to Kellie Davis' shoulders tense as she attempts to land the Year SkyHawk four-seater plane. Rain from a nearby storm limits the visibility of the Rooke Field runway but with a thud, Davis successfully lands the plane.

Thumbs-down to the continued heat spell.
