Ranging Reporter update: How have you been protecting yourself against the summer heat?

Ranging Reporter J.R. Ortega was at Ramsey's Restaurant where many people had already heard about the death of a man who was fishing at Riverside Park Wednesday. People in the Crossroads say it's hot and talked about how they keep cool and safe.

A: "I just remind my four kids to drink plenty of water. I have a daughter who runs cross country."

Debra Lozano, Victoria, registered nurse

A: "I've been in Africa. I'm an oil field consultant and go there for 35 days. There it has been in the 70s or 80s. Here, I just stay in the AC."

Randy Pickett, Victoria, oil field consultant

A: "Drink plenty of water. It will help keep you cool. Keep you hydrated. It's much better hydration than other drinks. I use about one Gatorade per 10 bottles of water during outside exertion in the heat."

John Elmore, Victoria, retired fire captain/paramedic

A: "Just trying to stay inside and in the shade. Drink lots of water. This summer it has been really hot."
