Victims of U.S. Highway 77 wreck identified

The name of a woman who died in a one-vehicle accident on U.S. Highway 77 near the Victoria County line on Friday afternoon has been released.

Rosita Rodriguez, 57, was from Alamo and died at the scene when the truck she was traveling in crashed into a wooden post and tore through 40 feet of metal extruder, a Department of Transportation spokesperson said.

The man driving was Eliseo Santizo, 30, of Victoria.

Santizo was airlifted Friday to Christus Spohn Memorial Hospital in Corpus Christi, the spokesperson said.

Santizo's condition was unknown as of Sunday night.

The cause of the accident is still under investigation and the relationship between the two is still unknown, the spokesperson added.
