The South Texas Zoological Society is urging Victorians to grab their boots and their checkbooks for the second annual Texas Tunes Fundraiser.

The event will be Saturday evening at the Texas Zoo and is for people age 21 and up.

"Events like this continue to foster the Texas Zoo's mission of education and conservation," said Zoo Board member Allyson Griffin.

Griffin said the board hopes to raise at least $20,000 to go toward constructing new exhibits, purchasing items that do not fall under daily zoo operations and building a larger den for lion cubs Aesa and Gaia.

Events for the evening include raffles along with silent and live auctions.

Items up for bid include jewelry, golfing and fishing packages and the opportunities to hold a party at the zoo and adopt the lion cubs' exhibit for a year.

Fundraiser attendees can expect to munch on barbecue while being entertained by the music of Wade Stockton and Clay Crockett & the Shotgun Raiders Band

The O'Connor and Hewitt Foundation underwrite Texas Tunes.
