A grand opening and open house for New Horizons, a program that offers inpatient and outpatient psychiatric services to patients 55 and older, will be Tuesday at Yoakum Community Hospital, 1200 Carl Ramert Drive.
A ribbon cutting ceremony will take place at 10 a.m. and informational presentations will be at 12:30 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. in the New Horizons building conference room.
New Horizon's programs are designed to address a significant need in the community for those who are experiencing difficult behavioral, mental, emotional and physical changes that are having an impact on their quality of life.
Both programs at Yoakum Community Hospital provide a mental assessment, links to community resources, focused mental health interventions, psychiatric evaluation, discharge planning and assistance with referrals through continuum of care. New Horizons also coordinate the collaboration between the patient's primary care physician and a consulting psychiatrist.
