The Texas Zoo is starting its own Christmas traditions with the inception of its first Holiday Lights event. The four-day event begins Dec. 10.

"It's enjoyable, seasonable fun for people of every age," said Andrea Blomberg, executive director of the Texas Zoo. "It's going to be beautiful."

During the event, visitors can stroll throughout the zoo listening to holiday music and viewing light displays assembled by zoo staff and local businesses.

Dec. 11 brings even more activities for zoo-goers, including a guest appearance by Santa Claus.

Guests can dine with Santa during the "Pancakes, Paws & Santa Claus" breakfast that morning.

Later that evening, guests will be transported from Riverside Park's special events area to the zoo via free hay rides for an opportunity to visit with Santa as part of the city of Victoria's "Christmas in the Park" holiday celebration.

Holiday-themed refreshments will be available for purchase.
