On defense: St. Joseph High School football player talks about his future

There's more to Hayden Vesely, a St. Joseph senior, than meets the eye.
The 17-year-old wide receiver and defensive back for the Flyers has a 3.7 GPA, plays shortstop on the baseball team and is contemplating ending the year on the basketball team.
Here's a look at some of the other ways he spends his time and how he manages his life outside of football.
In the Off-season
I do 4-H - I raise a pig - and then I play summer baseball and I'm involved with church. That's about it really.
I don't know where I want to go yet. I'll probably apply to A&M, but I'll probably go to Blinn (College) for baseball if I don't have other offers. I just don't know yet.
(To juggle school, friends and football) I just take it a day at a time and really just plan. I go about my business and do the best I can at all of them, and try to equal everything out.
I definitely like playing defense. Playing defense and running around and hitting people. Just the physical aspect of it, I guess, is what I like about football.
Getting Into Position
My favorite classes are history and math. (Teaching is) what I plan on doing (for a career). I want to teach and coach. Coaching is the main part of what I want to do, but you have to teach, too.
