Thumbs-up, thumbs-down; it's your choice
Dec. 24, 2010 at 6:24 a.m.
Thumbs-up to the couple at Skillets Restaurant Dec. 23, who paid the lunch bill for a young soldier, his mom, my husband and me. The waitress informed us of their generosity before they left the restaurant, so we were able to thank them in person, but we would like to thank them again. Like that couple, we are all grateful for the sacrifices of our military personnel and their families.
Thumbs-down: I'm sure the parents of those 6- and 7-year-olds may be very proud of their child's first letter to Santa, but when I read the majority of them, I was appalled. What horrible spelling and grammar. I remember back when our daughter was that age, and her school took pride in helping her write her first letter and taught her to spell (yes even at 6 years of age). VISD definitely has its work cut out for them!
