I'm a Victoria College student, and I was wondering if the Sports Center is open to all students or just for those taking a PE class or playing a sport?

The VC Sports Center is open to all students. There are times when the gym area is reserved for sports team practices or the aerobics room is reserved for classes or dance team practice, but there are also plenty of times when these areas are open for student use.

In addition to the gym and aerobics room, the Sports Center has a weight room with cardio equipment and a ping pong table in the lobby. Students also have access to the tennis courts.

There are a number of organized sports activities open to all students, including intramural sports such as basketball, volleyball, baseball, archery and tennis. Additionally, students may choose to attend free fitness classes including aerobics, yoga and the new body pump that combines weights and cardio for an extra challenging workout. The schedule of free fitness classes is posted on the VC homepage throughout the semester.

The VC Sports Center is also home to the VC Pirates sports teams, including men's and women's basketball and women's volleyball. Women's basketball is new this year, but the women's volleyball team has been the South Texas Club Sports League champions for three years in a row. The men's basketball team had a great season last year as well, making it all the way to the second game of the STCSL championship playoffs, which was a remarkable improvement over the previous year's 1/11 record.

VC also has a dance team called the VC Treasures. The Treasures dance at all home games for basketball and volleyball.

You can find the schedule of home and away games for all VC sports teams listed on the VC homepage in the calendar section.
