Editor, the Advocate:
I commend you for your coverage of Buddy Kamin's annual Christmas furniture giveaway.
Not only was this a greatly deserving family being rewarded for their service to America, but it focused the limelight on a man who is one of our area's truly unsung heroes.
As former managing editor of the Advocate, I must admit my dealings with Buddy didn't always find us in complete agreement. But I always respected the man deeply for his business savvy and his selfless desire to give back to the community he calls home.
For 24 consecutive years, Buddy has sought out a family to help with a holiday gift of fine furniture to fill their homes.
Dressed in his Santa suit, he shows up by surprise and empties his sleigh of its treasures.
Doing this for two-and-one-half decades goes far beyond a businessman looking for some good publicity. Heck, he's been successful without this generosity. No, Buddy's motive for this continuous kindness is far more pure, and in the true spirit of the season, we celebrate every December.
And he's been faithful to this work despite some personal challenges he's faced in life.
In the Bible's book of Hebrews, it cautions, "And hospitality do not forget, for by this some, being not aware of it, have entertained angels.
Mr. Kamin, you've built up quite a list of angels. God bless you.
