Flooding possible later this week

Heavy rainfall and flooding will be a threat across South Texas Wednesday through Friday, according to the National Weather Service.

The increased rain chances are a result of tropical moisture associated with a strong tropical wave expected to move into the region.

Between 1 and 3 inches of rainfall will be possible across much of South Texas, with isolated amounts of up to 5 inches.

With soils already saturated from Hurricane Alex last week, any additional heavy rain would elevate the flash-flooding as well as river-flooding potential.

A flash-flood watch may be required for portions of the area Thursday.
