BLOOMINGTON - County lawnmowers struck two gas lines in the past two days.
Both gas leaks occurred on Fifth Street - one around noon Monday, the other around 10 a.m. Tuesday.
Victoria County Fire Marshal Ron Pray said county employees were mowing ditches in the area to facilitate better drainage and help with mosquitos.
"A lot of these homes are abandoned and brush and grass build up, so the mowers don't see pipes in the ground," Pray said.
CenterPoint Energy was on the scene quickly, fixing the leaks before anyone had to be evacuated, Pray said.
"It's an accident that happens," he said. "People move out and don't take care of everything they need to, which causes problems."
