July 29, 2010 at 2:29 a.m.
Ranging Reporter JJ Velasquez was at IHOP Thursday. The National Resources Defense Council came out with its ratings for popular beaches. Velasquez asked customers at IHOP to give Texas beaches their own personal ratings.
A: "I think it's sad the people in the state of Texas don't take enough pride to keep the beaches clean."
Vodie Brooks, self-employed, Victoria
A: "They seem to be fine. We used to go a long time ago, but we don't anymore."
A: "If everything is big in Texas, why aren't we big on our beaches?"
Troy DeBault, oil field, Sweet Home
A: "They're not as clean or as beautiful as the beaches in Florida or along the east coast, where I come from originally, but they're more accessible. They certainly need to be cleaned up."
Lori Koonce, retired, Victoria
