Amateur football game canceled

The Cuero Adult Gobblers amateur football game scheduled for Saturday has been canceled.

The game was scheduled to be played at 4 p.m. at Hunt Field in Cuero.

On Friday, the La Pryor Dogz' offensive coordinator told the Gobblers they wouldn't be able to make the trip, thus forfeiting the game.

The La Pryor team had to forfeit because they did not have enough players.

The forfeit means another win for Cuero, moving it to 5-0 on the season.

The Gobblers were coming off a bye week, so this week's cancelation means a two-week layoff for Cuero.

On June 12, the team will travel to San Antonio to take on the Texas Heat.

The Gobblers have outscored their opponents 86-21.

In the first game of the season they defeated Victoria 12-7, but the Red Rage are undefeated since then.

Victoria will play at home on Saturday at 6:30 p.m. at Patti Welder Stadium.

The two teams will meet again in the final week of the season in Cuero.
