Samples of the new high school dance and drill team uniforms are expected to be on display at a Victoria school board meeting Thursday.

The board is expected to take action on the uniform contract bids.

It was proposed to award a $20,995 contract to Bravo Designs for Victoria West High School uniforms, and a $20,449 contract to Cheers, Etc. for Victoria East High School uniforms.

Evaluation and suitability of the uniform proposals included design, materials used, references and construction.

The school district is expected to purchase 68 uniforms for each high school using federal stimulus funds from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.

The uniforms need to be ordered soon to ensure delivery by the first football game in August.

Action will be taken on new names for the Career and Development School and Profit Magnet High School.

The school board will vote to change the development school to the Career & Technology Institute; and change the magnet school's name to Liberty Academy.

The school board will also vote on whether to keep the out-of district tuition rate at 0.

During the 2009-10 school year, Victoria schools had 87 non-resident students enrolled. Transfer requests for about 53 secondary students and 30 pending elementary students have been made into Victoria schools for the 2010-11 school year.

The school board set the 2009-10 Victoria schools tuition rate at 0 last July.
