First Victoria bank took home a certificate of merit award in May from the American Marketing Association's 24th annual Crystal Awards.

The recognition, which was announced at a Houston ceremony, came for a newspaper advertisement The Lee Group created to promote the bank's mobile banking services, according to a First Victoria news release. Entries were judged on their ability to produce results by utilizing effective insight, objectives and strategies.

This was the first time the bank had entered the AMA Crystal awards, Tom Curtis, senior vice president of marketing for First Victoria, said in the release.

"We are honored to be recognized in a prestigious competition such as this that judges work not only for its visual impact, but also by its results," he said.

With its 38,000 members, the AMA is one of the largest professional associations for marketers, according to the release. Houston's chapter is the state's largest professional marketing organization.

The win is the second marketing award First Victoria received in the past year. It recently earned a gold award from the Independent Bankers Association of Texas' Best of Community Banking competition for a marketing campaign centered around a new Victoria banking center.
