Thumbs-up to City Water Manager Lynn Short for responding to the needs of the community. We appreciate it!
Thumbs-up to Aprill Brandon for your column "Part of Being human is being humane." Thanks Aprill to you and your husband for rescuing Spike and Giles. So sorry you lost Giles. You and your husband did the right thing by rescuing the kittens.
Thumbs-up to the judge that struck down the moratorium on Gulf drilling! Unfortunately, accidents happen in the oil business, and we all regret the current issues, but it is too imperative that we move to oil independence, and we need to keep everyone working during these trying economic times. Accidents would be more easily contained if they didn't have to drill in 5,000 feet of water. Where's the common sense?
Thumbs-down to the VISD for always elaborating on the courses that will be available at the new high schools for students in advanced classes and for regular education students and those attending the new Advanced Learning Center. What about the Special Education Program? The students are not receiving a top-quality education they are entitled to. Instead, they are being left behind. It would be a great asset to the community and the district if they would join Special Olympics to benefit the mentally and physically disabled students where they can show off their athletic talents and compete against other school districts.
Thumbs-down to the firing of Gen. Stanley McChrystal. We should all be proud of the general and get out of Afghanistan. Does anyone really know why we are there?
