NURSERY - A home in the 1400 block of Nursery Road was destroyed in a fire Saturday morning.

The three inhabitants, a man and his two daughters, evacuated and were not harmed, Victoria County Fire Marshal Ron Pray said Sunday.

All that was left of the wooden home were a few walls by the time the fire was extinguished.

The man and his two daughters were in the home when one of the daughters noticed smoke, Pray said.

The father found the back porch on fire stemming from a gas water heater. They evacuated and called 9-1-1, Pray said.

Victoria Fire Department, Mission Valley Volunteer Fire Department and Nursery Volunteer Fire Department responded to the fire. By the time they arrived, half the home was engulfed in flames, Pray said.
