WHARTON - Graciela Tlatenchi, 48, of Wharton died Saturday after she collided in her Chevrolet Cavalier with another vehicle on U.S. Highway 59.

The other motorist, Mark Parker Jr., of Alvin, was not injured in the wreck.

At 7:46 p.m., Tlatenchi was driving south on U.S. Highway 59. She crossed a grass median into the northbound lane where Parker, driving a 2007 Ford pickup, struck her vehicle, said Pierce Department of Public Safety communications operator John Adkison.

Tlatenchi, who was wearing a seatbelt, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators are awaiting autopsy results to determine what caused Tlatenchi's death.

Donny Warner was traveling back to Beaumont from a baseball tournament when he noticed the accident.

Emergency personnel had responded to the incident. When Warner passed by the wreckage, the body lay exposed in the vehicle, he said.

"I just thought it was a tragic accident," Warner said.
