Greg Bagby hopes the success he enjoyed at Ganado carries over to Van Vleck.

Bagby was named the athletic director and head football coach at a special called meeting of the Van Vleck school district board of trustees on Monday night.

Bagby was the offensive coordinator at Ganado the last two seasons. The Indians advanced to the Class 1A, Division II semifinals both years.

Bagby has previously been an assistant at Bastrop, Tom Bean, La Grange, East Bernard and Kerrville Tivy.

Bagby was selected from a group of three finalists that included El Campo assistant Lane Tobola and Fort Bend Hightower defensive coordinator Allen Ham.

Bagby will replace Mike O'Guin, who resigned in March to take an administrative position with the district.

Bagby began working at Van Vleck on Tuesday.
