A Victoria woman was attacked by a pit bull as she talked to the dog's owner around 4:30 p.m., Wednesday.

The dog's owner, who police said is in her early 20's, walked outside to speak with the neighbor. They live in the 2000 block of Wildwood.

Her pit bull was able to open the screen door and ran outside, said officer Dennis Paine.

The 25-year-old neighbor received a puncture wound to her upper right bicep. No further information was provided on the woman's condition.

"The owner of the dog was able to get him off and put him on a chain," said Paine.

The dog was taken by animal control and quarantined.

Paine said the dog was up-to-date on vaccinations and registration.

The owner did not receive a citation.
