Hey, music fans,

Talk about a celebration of women of all kinds of music.

A ton of talented female artists is coming our way as part of the world-famous Lilith Fair this year.

These women, both solo artists and female-led bands, are reuniting for the fair founded by singer Sarah MacLachlan in 1996.

Besides MacLachlan, this year's artists include Sheryl Crow, Mary J. Blige, Miranda Lambert, Heart, Indigo Girls, Martina McBride, The Go-Go's, The Bangles, Rihanna and many others.

This year is a revival, as a tour has not occurred since 1999.

Lilith Fair formed after MacLachlan became upset that concert promoters and radio stations refused to feature female musicians back-to-back.

As a result, MacLachlan booked a successful tour with Paula Cole that same year.

And thus, Lilith Fair was born a year later.

The fair is named after Lilith, who, according to Jewish folklore, was the first wife of Adam, but was banished from the Garden of Eden for refusing to submit to him.

Lilith Fairs are also charity-related. Between 1997-99, more than $10 million was raised for women's charities.

This year, the fair will have a "Choose Your Charity" campaign, where residents in each city of the tour will have a voice in selecting a local women's charity to support by voting on pre-selected charities the Lilith Facebook page.

Charities in Houston you can vote on are: Star of Hope: Transitional Living Center, Houston Area Women's Center, The Women's Resource of Greater Houston and The Women's Institute.

For every ticket sold in that particular city, $1 will be donated to a local charity and will be personally presented by MacLachlan.
