CUERO - Three people were arrested in DeWitt County for failing to comply with sex offender registration procedures.

Lupe Garcia, 46, and Johnny Eakin, 46, were arrested Monday for the third degree felony offense, according to a news release from the DeWitt County Sheriff's Office.

Donald Ressman, 45, who was already in jail on an indecency with a child charge, was also charged Monday for failure to comply with sex offender registration procedures, said DeWitt County Sheriff Jode Zavesky.

All the men remained in the DeWitt County Detention Center as of Tuesday afternoon.

The compliance check included 33 offenders required to register. Seven discrepancies were noted, but four were because of typographical errors on the addresses, according to the news release.

The check was conducted during the last couple of weeks, Zavesky said, and took more than 60 man hours. The overtime used to conduct the operation was paid for with grant funds from the governor's Criminal Justice Division, according to the news release.
