Three Calhoun athletes will sign to continue their careers at the college level, including two softball players key to the Sandies' run to the Class 4A regional semifinal.
Pitcher Cecilia Castillo will sign her letter of intent to pitch for Sam Houston State next season, while centerfielder Naomi Trevino will sign to play next season at Coastal Bend College. Castillo finished the season 0.82 ERA for the Sandies and 32 wins and a .618 batting average at the plate.
Trevino finished the year with a .366 batting average after switching to batting left-handed this season, and becoming a slap hitter.
Also signing Thursday is tennis player Sydney Gonzales, who will get an academic scholarship to attend McMurray College and play tennis on the school's team, said athletic director Richard Whitaker.
