GOLIAD - A 47-year-old Goliad man pleaded guilty Wednesday to sexual assault and burglary.
Billy Glenn Moore was charged with aggravated sexual assault of an elderly person and burglary of a habitation with intent to commit sexual assault. The attack occurred in March and the burglary in April at the victims' homes.
"I'm very satisfied with the plea, it will in all probability keep Moore locked up for the rest of his natural life," said Michael Sheppard, district attorney.
Moore was charged with burglary in August and with sexual assault in November.
"The initial break was finding the shoe," left at the scene of one of the incidents, said Sheppard, who commended the Goliad County Sheriff's Department for its work.
The shoe helped lead officers to Moore and DNA was able to link him to the sexual assault, Sheppard said.
A pre-trial hearing was set for Wednesday, and the plea was not anticipated, said Sheppard.
"We won't have to put the victims through having to testify at trial," said Sheppard.
Moore could face up to 40 years in prison on each count to be served concurrently.
Sentencing is scheduled for June 16.
