Registered nurses Venessa Padierna, and Julie Cordova, have passed the Certified Bariatric Nurse exam. They are now part of 14 nurses at Citizens Bariatric Center who are certified by the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery. To qualify for the exam, registered nurses must have a minimum of two years experience working in the clinical arena of bariatric surgery.
Two Hermann Sons fraternal insurance agents representing the Victoria area are among 34 agents who have qualified for recognition based on their performance in 2009. Bob Jungman, qualified for the Grand President's Club, and John Langhoff qualified for the Executive Club. The agents were recognized during the 19th annual Agents' Awards Banquet held in Austin on April 17.
Jungman has qualified for club membership for the 18th time. He represents 10 lodges, including lodges in Niederwald, Hallettsville, Shiner, Cuero, Yorktown, Weesatche, Nordheim, Cuero, Hochheim, and Gruenau.
Langhoff has qualified for club membership for the 11th year. He is a member of the Hochheim-Prairie Lodge No. 90 and represents the Yoakum and Shiner area.
Greg and Lisa Haynes of Victoria Insurance Group, attended the Personal Lines-Certified Insurance Counselor continueing education provided by the National Alliance for Insurance and Education in San Diego, CA. These classes consist of 20 hours classtime on various insurance industry topics annually.
Toni Fletcher, agent and owner, at Victoria Insurance Group recently attended the Texas Windstorm Insurance Association 2010 Underwriting Workshop in Corpus Christi. Topics covered included insuring to value, replacement coverages, increased cost of construction, WPI-8 compliance, hurricane binding procedures, and Texas Windstorm applicaitons and submissions.
Carol Klages, an associate professor in the University of Houston-Victoria School of Education and Human Development, recently received certification approval from state board for educator certification in languages other than English - Spanish EC-12. In conjunction with the UHV School of Arts and Sciences, the certification will make it possible for the school to graduate Spanish teachers.
Kathryn Tart, founding dean of the University of Houston-Victoria School of Nursing, recently was selected from 646 nursing deans across the nation to receive the American Association of Colleges of Nursing advocate of the year award for her work on behalf of the nursing profession.
Ana Perez recently was hired as the administrative secretary in the University of Houston-Victoria Athletics Office. In her new role, she assists the UHV athletics director with the day-to-day operations of the office.
Judge Robert B. Whitaker was recently honored for outstanding service on behalf of victims of crime during National Crime Victims' Rights Week. Whitaker, who serves as Victoria County Justice of the Peace in Precinct Three, was recognized for his efforts to protect spouses, children, and family members by swiftly issuing emergency protective orders in family violence cases.
Martha Martin of Victoria, was recognized as one of lia sophia's Excellent Beginnings Program Achievers. She received the honor based on outstanding sales accomplishments and professionalism. Lia sophia is a fashion jewelry business.
Charles Wartsbaugh and Minka Latta of the financial services firm Edward Jones in Victoria recently received the firm's Client Service Excellence award.
Terri Mehrens-Jones has joined Advanced Living Technologies, Inc. and Victoria Nursing and Rehab Center as the new director of business development. .Jones holds a Masters of Science in Gerontoloy.
