Annual Shiner Catholic Church spring picnic set for Sunday

SHINER - The annual Sts. Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church spring picnic will be Sunday at the Shiner American Legion Hall, 1023 S. Ave. G.

The event touts 14 hours of music inside the air-conditioned hall, featuring accordion music from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., the Shiner Hobo Band from 2 to 4 p.m. and the Texas Legacy Czech Band and Los Kolaches from 4 to 8 p.m.

Chris Rybak will play in the biergarden from 5 to 9 p.m.

A dance, with music provided by the Emotions, will be from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. Admission to the dance is $8.

Lunch is served from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., and includes a choice of three meats - stew, fried chicken and country sausage. Plates are $7.50.

Drive-thru to-go plates are available from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Shiner Knights of Columbus Hall, on alternate U.S. Highway 90 East.

The picnic includes a country store, auction at noon, cattle auction at 3 p.m., as well as arts and crafts booths and concessions.

Bingo will be from 1 to 5 p.m. and a free children's dance for ages 3 to 11 from 8 to 9:30 p.m.

A drawing, featuring 30 prizes, including a 2010 New Holland tractor, will be at 10 p.m. Tickets are available for a $35 donation.
