A 17-year-old driving through Riverside Park crashed his vehicle into a tree Friday. Nicholas De La Garza, the driver, and his passenger, friend Nicholas Valle, 18, were speeding east in the 100 block of McCright Drive when they lost control on a curve, broke a control post and then hit a tree, said Victoria Police Officer Shane Wallace. De La Garza was going about 40 miles per hour in a 20 miles per hour zone, Wallace added. Wallace also said that both teenagers were uninjured, but De La Garza's mother was going to take her son to an area hospital after he complained of chest pain because of the airbag's deployment. De La Garza was issued citations for unsafe speeding and no license.
