Firefighter EMT Timothy Ray stands between two vehicles that were involved in a wreck just outside of Motel 6 at 3716 Houston Hwy. on Sunday evening. Both drivers were taken to Citizens Medical Center.

Two women were transported to the hospital with non life-threatening injuries Sunday night after their cars collided in the 3000 block of Houston Highway.

Cirila Dellaquila, 40, was driving a dark blue Jeep Cherokee, and a 73-year-old Bertha Bates was driving a red Chevrolet Monte Carlo when they struck each other in front of the Motel 6, police said. Victoria Police Department and the Victoria Fire Department responded to the scene around 5:50 p.m.

Both vehicles suffered severe damage to their passenger sides, and were towed away from the scene. Neither drivers were transporting passengers.
