Five injured in 2-car collision on US 59 and US 77

Two vehicles collided at the intersection of U.S. Highway 59 and U.S. Highway 77 around 10 p.m. Monday.
The wreck sent five passengers of a 2004 Chevrolet Impala to DeTar Hospital Navarro, said Department of Public Safety Cpl. Frank Casillas.
Elsie Cassens, 73, of Iowa was traveling south on U.S. Highway 77 in a Ford F-150 truck when she changed from the right lane into a crossover, said Casillas.
Amanda DeLaRosa Saavedra, 37, was driving the Impala south in the left lane of U.S. 77 when the collision occurred.
Saavedra and passengers Elvira Paloma, 19; and children, boys aged 10, 11, 13, were treated and released from the hospital Monday night, according to the DPS on Tuesday.
Cassens was cited for turning when unsafe, according to the DPS.
