About 80 air conditioner units were taken from the University of Houston-Victoria over the weekend.
The units valued at $32,000, had been removed from the rooms of the former InnPlace Hotel, which is now Jaguar Hall.
"We were going to refurbish a bunch of them and use them for scrap," said Kevin Meyers, UHV director of facilities services.
The units were stacked in the back of the facilities services building, which is not visible from the street, said Sgt. Adam Nieto with the Victoria Police Department.
The units were last seen about 5 p.m. Saturday and were reported missing at 8 a.m. Monday.
"If anybody saw anything, we'd love to know," Meyers said. "We'd love to know if anybody sees a bunch of air conditioners show up at their neighbor's house."
