BLOOMINGTON - Bloomington native Raymond Martinez is running for Place 3 on the school board and wants to address some of the districts toughest challenges.

"We all got to stick together to make everything possible for these kids," he said.

Martinez said the toughest challenges for the district are keeping students enrolled, losing teachers and getting students ready for college.

"By the time they finish high school I think they should be ready for college," he said.

Martinez, a former high school volunteer coach, besaid he's qualified for the position because he's familiar with the students in the district.

"I know mostly all the kids now," he said.

If elected Martinez said his No. 1 goal is simple.

"To make sure we get the right teachers here, to keep the good teachers here and to make education better for these kids," he said.
