BLOOMINGTON - John Ellsworth, a current Bloomington school district board member, has a number of goals if he is re-elected to the Place 1 position.

"I want to continue having the TAKS scores increased, bring the average daily attendance up and reduce the dropout rate," he said.

Ellsworth said he is qualified for the position because he has extensive continuing education hours and is familiar with school district policies, open records and public hearing laws, and has had training in diversity and conflict resolution.

He also prides himself in never having missed a school board meeting in his last two years serving.

"I have always made myself available for questions and concerns regarding either good or bad dealing with the district," he wrote in a prepared statement.
