20 members of street gang indicted

Twenty members of the street gang Hermanos Pistoleros Latinos were indicted by a grand jury last week, Victoria County District Steve Tyler said during a Monday morning news conference at his office.

Tyler described this group of indictments as one of the largest crackdowns on the Hermanos Pistoleros Latinos in Victoria's history.

The indictments, which are linked to six different cases, were solved by collaborations among the Victoria County District Attorney and Sheriff's Offices, Victoria Police Department, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement and the Texas Department of Public Safety.

The cases, all but two of which are murder cases, span from 2001 to 2008.

All but three of the men have been arrested.

The evidence needed to solve the cases stemmed from a May 2009 drug bust.
