CUERO - A 45-year-old Cuero woman was found dead in her home Monday morning.
Although police would not say how she died, they did say they do not think it was a random act of violence or from natural causes.
Rechard Sammons Griffin was found in her bedroom in the 400 block of East Alexander Street by her family, who became worried after they hadn't heard from Griffin since Friday, according to a Cuero Police Department news release.
A nearby family member saw Griffin's car leaving the home on Friday night and the vehicle, a 2009 Hyundai Santa Fe with the license plate number BX6-G617 has been reported stolen, according to the news release.
"It is believed that the victim knew her attacker," according to the news release.
The police do not have a suspect in custody but do believe they know who they are looking for, interim police chief Steven Ellis said.
The department is withholding the suspect's name.
"We don't want to scare them off," he said.
