The Victoria County District Attorney's Office is offering issuers of hot checks an alternative way to repay their debt.
Victoria County District Attorney Steve Tyler formally announced on Monday that his office would now accept credit cards payments.
The District Attorney's office first began accepting this form of payment on Sept. 24.
"If you have bad checks, rather than wait and get arrests on a warrant or be humiliated for writing a bad check, you can come in and pay by credit card," said Tyler.
Since January, the District Attorney's office has been able to recoup $556,993.70 in restitution payments.
Tyler said he hopes the new method will help cut down on debtors having to make multiple payments and debtors who fail to make any payments.
