Name: Dorothy Rother
City of residence: Hallettsville
Current title: Farmer and rancher
First job: My first paying job was at a nursery. I babysat two boys and, when I finished with that, helped pot plants.
What it taught me: It helped me with my cooking and babysitting skills but, being the oldest child in my family, I already knew most of that. What I really learned was how to take care of plants and flowers. At one time, I knew the name of all the plants.
