Phyllis Snodgrass, former chief executive officer of the Victoria Chamber of Commerce, was selected vice president for chamber relations with the Texas Association of Business.

Her first day is Oct. 1.

Snodgrass, a certified public accountant, has worked as CEO for chambers of commerce in Athens, Victoria and San Marcos. She is currently state treasurer for Texas Chamber of Commerce Executives, which touts itself as the nation's oldest association of chamber professionals.

Her history, along with the good things the business association heard about her work, were the primary factors in her selection, Bill Hammond, the association's president and CEO said.

"I understood that we needed to have an individual who is respected by their chamber peers throughout the state and understands the challenges every chamber exec in Texas faces," Hammond said in a news release. "In addition, I was seeking an individual who can represent our organization well throughout Texas, as we seek to improve the economy of our state through a large variety of issues."

Snodgrass will replace Art Roberts, who is retiring after 40 years in the chamber industry, including 20 years with the state chamber.
